Young Arai Kenshi (Satoshi Tsumabuki) has been taking care of his aunt Taki (Chieko Baisho)'s daily life. Taki used to work as a maid in Tokyo when she was young. Now, under Kenshi's entanglement, she picked up a pen and wrote down the old sad and happy past. It was back in the early Showa period, when the young Taki (Hana Kuroki) left her hometown in Yamagata and went to the Hirai family as a maid after several twists and turns. The Hirai family built a small house with a red roof in the suburbs of Tokyo. The male owner (Kataoka Kotaro) is the general manager of the toy company, and the hostess Tokiko (Matsu Takako) is graceful and beautiful. Taki is full of admiration for Tokiko, and she serves the Hirai family wholeheartedly. During the Spring Festival of a certain year, Itakura Masaharu (Hidetaka Yoshioka), a new designer at the toy company, walked into the Hirai family.
