Shetland Mysteries is a crime drama starring Douglas Henshall as Detective Jimmy Perez. The first season was broadcast on BBC One in 2013. The story of this season is based on Ann Cleeves' novel Red Bones. The story takes place on the island of Shetland, while most of the filming was done on the Scottish mainland. On April 3, 2013, it was announced that Shetland Mysteries had been booked for a second season of six episodes, which is expected to be broadcast in 2014 and filming will begin in the summer of 2013. The plot is adapted from Ann Cleeves' other three novels Raven Black, Dead Water and Blue Lightning, and is divided into three chapters, two episodes each.
