1,700 nautical miles from the Strait of Sumatra, a man (Robert Redford) who sailed alone in the Indian Ocean muttered in despair that everything seemed to be lost here. 8 days ago. He was still asleep and suffered a series of disasters. First, the sailboat he was driving collided with a container that fell into the sea, and then the cabin was flooded uncontrollably and could not be repaired. The ensuing bad luck swept away all his life like a storm at sea. The navigation and radio were scrapped, and all the equipment for external communication was lost; the rain was pouring, and the stormy waves unscrupulously invaded the ship on which he depended for survival. The originally resourceful old sailor had to abandon the ship to survive, and the sharks that surrounded him tightly around the raft were even more eager to look for food. Not only that, the extreme hunger was torturing his stomach and intestines at all times, wearing away his will. The footsteps of death approached him step by step until the end. The film was nominated for Best Sound Editing at the 86th Academy Awards in 2014, and was nominated for Best Original Score and Best Actor in a Drama at the 71st Golden Globe Awards in 2014.
