The story takes place in a Russian manor during the reign of the Tsarist Russia. Nina (Saoirse Ronan) is a young girl living there. She is innocent and simple and has a very romantic and beautiful vision of love, and has great hopes for her future life. Constantine (Billy Howle) hopes to become a writer, and at the same time he is deeply in love with Nina and pursues her passionately. Constantine's father died, and his mother Elena (Annette Bening) took a writer named Boris (Corey Stoll) to the manor for recuperation.
