Based on a true story that happened in 1989, the film reveals a little-known Cuban history. After the Chernobyl nuclear accident, Marin, a professor of Russian literature at the University of Havana, was appointed to translate between Cuban doctors and Soviet children who were injured by radiation to help the victims receive treatment. Marin was forced to withdraw from the lonely and abstract academic world and enter this ruthless reality full of pain, trauma and medicine. At first, he was very unhappy with his new job. The pain he witnessed gradually turned into a huge emotional pressure, making him more and more depressed. When Marin met a child who told him a story, Marin began to enter the hearts of the child patients and did his best to improve their lives and alleviate their illnesses. Just as Marin found his way and began to adapt to his new job, the Berlin Wall fell and Cuba began its worst economic crisis in history. Marin's wife, Isoana, a contemporary art curator, was disappointed that her husband was away for a long time and was always cold and distant even when he returned home. But now Marin was so focused on the lives of the children affected by Chernobyl in the hospital that he didn't notice his family's suffering. He must return to his wife and children and become a better man through the lessons he learned in the hospital.
