Dito (Robert Downey Jr.) is a well-known writer in Los Angeles, USA. After being separated from his family for fifteen years, he finally embarked on the road home that he had been avoiding. In the 1980s, Astoria, Queens, New York. Young Dito (Shia LaBeouf) has been through a difficult time. He quarreled and broke up with his family, and he was loyal and betrayed by his girlfriend Laurie (Melonie Diaz). He witnessed his friends leaving him forever one by one, either dying of drug abuse or in prison. Dito has been trying to keep himself from being hurt, and Nirvana in the pain of family affection, race, loyalty, sex, and violence. Gradually, Dito began to believe that only the power from God can allow him to survive. The film is adapted from the personal autobiography of director Dito Montiel. The film won the Best New Director Award and the Critics' Week Award at the 63rd Venice International Film Festival in 2006, and the Special Jury Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, among many other awards.
