Gentleman Jean Valjean (Dominic West) was sentenced to 20 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread. After being released from prison, he was taken in by a kind-hearted bishop because of his difficult life. However, Jean Valjean, who could not withstand the test of the dark side of his heart, stole the silver candlestick from the bishop's house.
