The TV series "Peach Blossom Tribulation" tells the story of the early years of the Republic of China. Zeng Danyun, the young lady of the Yao family, a prominent family in Jiangnan, was framed by Zhao Cuiping, the second grandmother, and was accused of having an affair with the housekeeper Liu Zihao (played by Jiang Hongen). Zeng Danyun, who was pregnant, was punished by the family law of peach blossom brand. In the play, Liu Zihao (played by Jiang Hongen) kindly rescued her and brought her back to his hometown to meet his wife Baochun. Zeng Danyun was in labor and gave birth to a daughter. On the same day, Baochun had a difficult delivery and passed away after giving birth to a son. Many years later, Cuiping learned of Danyun's whereabouts and mistakenly thought that Zihao's son was a descendant of the Yao family. She forcibly snatched the child. By mistake, Zhuzi was taken away and became the flesh and blood of the Yao family. He was named Yao Jingshi (played by Huo Zhengyan). Danyun's daughter Nianci was also adopted by the Shen family and named Shen Yanrong. Eighteen years later, Yao Jingshi met Shen Yanrong by chance. The two met again after many years and fell in love again. The reappearance of Zeng Danyun and Liu Zihao caused a great uproar in the Yao family. Zeng Danyun went through untold hardships to find her daughter Shen Yanrong. Unfortunately, the Yao family had fallen into decline. In the play, both mother and daughter were branded with peach blossoms. Yao Jingshi and Shen Yanrong separated and reunited several times, but finally the lovers got married and worked together to rebuild their home... The play praises that after Shen Yanrong, played by Lin Weijun, recognized her ancestral roots, she abolished the family's practice of treating women unequally, which was to take humiliating punishment measures without asking any questions.
