Introduction

Hong Kong was once world-famous for its neon lights, but with the changing times, the former prosperity seems to have become a thing of the past. The wife finds it hard to accept her husband's death and spends all day at home sorting out his belongings. Everyone around her tells her to stop obsessing, but it's no use. One day, she finds a key to her late husband's secret neon factory, where she meets his young apprentice and learns that her late husband had always wanted to rebuild a mysterious neon sign that had been demolished. The wife, who hopes to fulfill his last wish, gradually learns the story of each of the old signs in the process. Sylvia Chang and Simon Yam collaborate again after 39 years, joining hands with new actors Chau Hon-ning and Chua Siu-wan to tell a unique history of Hong Kong. The neon lights in the film coincide with the recent demolition works. Different artistic symbols run through the whole film, alluding to the city and also contrasting with the Hong Kong people who are trying to save the situation. As the director said: Although it is an empty obsession, perhaps life needs obsession to have weight.
