Introduction

Pavel is a man in his 30s who makes a living with his father Zygmunt, who sells second-hand clothing from northern France to Poland. On his way back from a regular "business trip", Pavel saw his father's photo printed in a local Polish tabloid, with "traitor" written under his name. Zygmunt was a talented opposition leader who organized opposition to the dictatorship in the 1980s. But now, his portrait and name are labeled as traitors, and the tabloid with the artistic conception of the fallen communists in power also reported that Zygmunt was a shameful informer, code-named "Mole". In today's Poland, although there has been a 20-year process of democratization, Zygmunt's story has still caused quite a stir. The report pointed out that the movement led by Zygmunt killed many mine owners, and his wife Eva's father died in the movement. Peverel firmly believed that this was a fabrication by those who opposed his father, but Zygmunt's many abnormal behaviors made Peverel have many doubts about his father's past. The incident affected the whole family, and Zygmunt went to northern France to find his cousin, hoping that things would be "calm." Peverel's life was turned upside down. He was usually a person who was not interested in politics, but this time he became the target of public criticism and became the focus of a country's political debate. Zygmunt still stayed in northern France, and Poland confirmed that it was Peverel who hid his father, and his relationship with his mother Eva was inevitably affected. Gabek, the secret policeman of the year, also participated in the opposition. He knew what Zygmunt did that year, but he was unwilling to speak up, because these things were unacceptable to Zygmunt, Peverel and Poland, a country with a tragic fate.
