"Beauty" tells the story of Shin Yoon-bok, a famous genius painter in Joseon history who disguised herself as a man. Shin Yoon-bok's (Kim Min-sun) father placed the prosperity of the family on this poor girl, hid her daughter's body, and dressed up as a man. He followed the local painter Kim Hong-do (Kim Young-ho) to learn painting skills and made a living by selling paintings to landlords. The rough-tempered Kang Moo (Kim Nam-gil) is a bronze mirror merchant in the market. He accidentally discovered Shin Yoon-bok's identity as a woman, fell in love with her, and made Yoon-bok realize that love as a woman is like fate. But Shin Yoon-bok's teacher Kim Hong-do also has a wonderful relationship with his apprentice. He does not allow Yoon-bok to betray himself and tries every means to stop Yoon-bok and Kang Moo. The famous prostitute Snow Flower (Choo Ja-hyun) is deeply in love with Kim Hong-do. Where will the four people go? Can Shin Yoon-bok and Kang Moo protect their love? Will Shin Yoon-bok's identity as a woman be revealed? In the end, can she change her life and become a famous painter in Joseon?
