The story tells that Jane (Grace) is the eldest daughter of Bob (Hanks) and Mary (Paquin), who lives a happy and traditional life in an idyllic American city. She trusts her family's friend and neighbor Robert (Lacey), even though the latter has plans to kidnap her, Jane never doubts it. Robert slowly turns Jane against her family and uses despicable means to corrupt the family.
