The show is the first show in the "Immortal Universe". The TV universe is based on Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles-Mayfair Witches" series of novels. Mark Johnson ("Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul") is the leader, and Anne Rice (before her death) and her son Christopher Rice serve as non-screenwriter executive producers. Anne was involved in the show before her death, and the crew had already started filming when she died. The drama version of "Interview with the Vampire" is adapted from Anne Rice's Gothic novel of the same name. It focuses on Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia, telling their epic story of love, blood and the harm of immortality, as told by reporter Daniel Molloy. In New Orleans in the 1900s, as a black man, Louis was troubled by the various restrictions in his life. He found it difficult to resist the ultimate escape invitation from the prodigal Lestat-joining Lestat and becoming his vampire partner. Louis's intoxicating new powers come at a terrible price, and with Lestat's newly transformed vampire child, Claudia, they embark on a decades-long journey of revenge and atonement.
