The film tells the story of the rise and fall of Brideshead Manor, a suburb of London, in Britain before the outbreak of World War II from the perspective of witness and narrator Charles Ryder (Jeremy Irons), and describes the life and fate of this Catholic family. At Oxford University, Charles made friends with Saint Bastien Frater (Anthony Andrews), a dandy boy of noble origin. Saint Bastien's strict mother, the Marchioness of Marchman (Claire Bloom), is in charge of Brideshead Manor, which is full of devout Catholics. However, the scandal of his father abandoning his wife and mistress to live in Venice for a long time has left a mark of shame on his children since childhood and distorted their nature. Saint Bastien, who drinks and revels every day, invites Charles to the manor to attend his family dinner. Charles fell in love with Saint Bastien's sister Julia (Diana Quick) at first sight. The complicated and ambiguous emotional entanglement between the three people began from then on, spanning decades. Those love and life, pain and faith, could not withstand the changes of things and people. The eleven-episode British TV series "Brideshead Revisited" is adapted from the novel of the same name by British writer Evelyn Waugh. The series has a strong cast and won multiple nominations for the 1982 Emmy Awards for Best Miniseries, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress.
