In Shanghai in the 1930s, film photographer Shen Junchu (played by Liming) was deeply in love with his girlfriend, broadcaster Xu Manli (played by Fan Bingbing), but he was unable to propose to his girlfriend because of his introverted personality. In frustration, Manli broadcast a radio drama she wrote. In the radio drama, photographer Junchu regretted missing Manli's marriage proposal. He bought a ring and made an appointment with Manli, but Manli was hit and killed by a car. Junchu has been living in the memory of Manli ever since. Later, another woman, his wife Sansan (played by Rene Liu) appeared, but Junchu ignored Sansan. Although Sansan loved Junchu deeply, she could not make him happy.
