The play tells the story of the early 1990s in the central and western mountainous areas. The two villages with different surnames, Zhao and Liu, merged into one village due to a natural disaster. The village party secretary Zhao Shuhe was deeply distressed by the poverty caused by natural disasters and years of resentment between the two villages. He wanted to change the poverty in his hometown. At the same time, he had to deal with the relationship with the Liu villagers represented by Liu Daming. Guo Wen, who had been transferred to the village with his father, had a deep affection for this land. He and Zhao Shuhe and Liu Daming were good friends when they were young. After Guo Wen entered the government department, he always paid attention to the situation in the village. It was also his long-cherished wish to get rid of poverty for this land. The three people made various efforts and attempts to get rid of poverty. Two generations went forward one after another to devote themselves to the cause of poverty alleviation, and finally got rid of poverty in the village.
