This film is a remake of the 1971 British horror film "Countess Dracula". It is adapted from real events and written, directed and acted by Delpy. In 17th century Hungary, Countess Elizabeth (Julie Delpy) was famous for her beauty. Since her husband died in the war, she has been a widow in the castle. At a court ball, Elizabeth met the handsome and passionate young nobleman Istvan (Daniel Brühl), and the two fell in love. The affair between the two was strongly opposed by Istvan's father, who forcibly sent his son to Denmark and found a younger marriage partner for him. Elizabeth felt lost and asked the witch Anna for help to save her love. According to legend, the blood of virgins has a miraculous effect of keeping her face.
