Around 1990, immigration to the United States became the dream of many Chinese people, especially artists. Beijing musician Wang Qiming (Jiang Wen) and his wife Guo Yan (Yan Xiaopin) came to the United States, which they had longed for for a long time. Soon, their beautiful dream was hit. After struggling for several times, Wang Qiming, who had never become an artist, was depressed for a while and became a businessman. He accumulated considerable wealth in just a few years.
