In February 1943, the brutal Battle of Stalingrad was in a stalemate. In Munich, members of the underground anti-war organization White Rose were stepping up the printing and distribution of leaflets. In response to the actions of female students not long ago, Sophie (Julia Jentsch) and Hans planned to distribute leaflets on the university campus. The two took great risks to enter the school and were unfortunately arrested when they were finished distributing them. Gestapo Moore was responsible for interrogating Sophie. According to the pre-agreed words, the siblings refused to admit that they were related to the anti-war leaflets and were almost acquitted, but the Nazi search found new clues, and the situation took a sharp turn for the worse. Sophie began to take the blame on herself to cover up her companions. After repeated confrontations, Moore began to have some understanding and sympathy for this determined young woman, but what awaited Sophie was ultimately a closed and unfair trial... This film was adapted from a true story and won many awards including the Best Director Award at the 2005 Berlin Film Festival.
