AMC's "The Terror" is based on the novel of the same name written by Dan Simmons in 2007. It has been directly booked for 10 episodes and is now confirmed to premiere on March 26 next year in the United States. The series version is written by David Kajganich and tells the story of the Royal Navy Terror in 1847 when they were exploring the "Northwest Passage" in the Arctic Circle. Their ship was attacked by some unknown predatory monster, so the crew had to fight for survival. The novel is based on the story of John Franklin's real-life "HMS Erebus" and "HMS Terror". Jared Harris plays Francis Crozier, the captain of the Terror and the second in command of the expedition. He is a wise sailor and captain, but being Irish has made him reach a bottleneck in his career in the Royal Navy (the original text is glass ceiling, which refers to the fact that one's gender or identity or some other reasons are restricted from promotion even though it is not explicitly stated), making him have no expectations of fame and political career. Ciaran Hinds plays John Franklin/Sir John Franklin, Paul Ready plays Henry Goodsir, and Adam Nagaitis plays Cornelius Hickey. They and Tobias Menzies' character James Fitzjames (one of the Royal Navy) are all members of the exploration team. Edward Ashley and Liam Garrigan play members of the Terror, while Ronan Raftery and Matthew McNulty both play captains on the Terror.
