The drama consists of three chapters: "Listening to the Wind", "Watching the Wind" and "Catching the Wind". The first chapter "Listening to the Wind" takes place in the early days of liberation. An Zaitian (Liu Yunlong), a member of the secret national agency 701, went through great pains to find A Bing (Wang Baoqiang), a blind man with extraordinary hearing talent, to help the government find the radio station where the Kuomintang in Taiwan communicated with its remnant forces in the mainland, so as to obtain intelligence and annihilate them one by one. The second chapter "Watching the Wind" takes place in the early 1960s. Huang Yiyi (Chen Shu), a patriotic mathematical genius who had studied abroad, followed An Zaitian to 701 to decipher codes for the country because she was fascinated by An Zaitian. Her personality also changed due to the change of environment. The third chapter "Catching the Wind" takes place in Shanghai in the 1930s. Qian Zhijiang (Liu Yunlong), a Communist Party member lurking in the Kuomintang and An Zaitian's father, fought wits and courage with the Kuomintang people to mediate in order to send out intelligence related to the survival of his colleagues in a timely manner.
