Harry Brown (Michael Caine), a retired Royal Navy officer in his 70s, lives alone in a small apartment near the slums on his pension after his wife died. The nearby pedestrian tunnel is a place for street fights, drug deals and body sales by gangsters. Leonard (David Bradley), a good friend of Brown who plays chess, is often harassed by these gangsters and even brutally murdered. Policewoman Frampton (Emily Mortimer) and her subordinates are responsible for investigating the case, but they have to release the murderer who killed Leonard due to insufficient evidence. Brown, who is old, can't stand it anymore and decides to go into battle himself to eradicate the gangsters and avenge Leonard. The film was nominated for the Best British Film, Best Thriller and Best Actor (Michael Caine) by the British "Empire" film magazine in 2010, and was nominated for the Most Breakthrough British Filmmaker (Daniel Barber) by the London Film Critics Association.
