This film is adapted from the true experience of Max Manus, a famous Norwegian resistance fighter. In the late 1930s, the shadow of war enveloped the European continent, and Germany and the Soviet Union eroded European countries from the east and west. In 1940, Max Manus (played by Aksel Hennie) and many Norwegian youths formed a volunteer army to go to Finland to participate in the "Winter War" to prevent the Soviet Union from occupying Finland. Later, because Germany sent troops to Norway, Manus had to return to Oslo to organize underground publications to promote anti-Nazi ideas. This dangerous career led to Manus being captured by the Nazis, but he escaped and finally arrived in Scotland, where he received strict training from the British. In 1943, Manus parachuted into Norway and used homemade bombs to attack German ships. From then on, he began his legendary life as a mentally ill patient and became a resistance hero... This film won seven major awards including the 2008 Norwegian Film Amanda Award for Best Film, Actor, Photography, and Screenplay.
