The little boy Hugo (Asa Butterfield) is born with a mechanical control. He lives in the clock tower of the Paris train station and occasionally goes to the toy store to steal some parts to repair the robot left by his father (Jude Law). During a theft, he was caught on the spot by the shop owner Georges Mérieux (Ben Kingsley), and had to give in because he was afraid of the patrolman with hounds (Sacha Baron Cohen). George took away Hugo's father's relic - a mechanical manual, which made him anxious. He followed George's home and met his adopted daughter Isabella (Chloë Moretz). He begged her to help him keep the manual. Isabella thought this was strange, so the two of them went together to explore the mystery. The signature of the repaired robot's painting showed George's name, which made them suspicious. Finally, they found the mysterious cabinet full of paintings in George's home, and found George's life experience in the movie books in the library. The appearance of an insider makes their fantasy adventure even more mysterious... This film is adapted from Brian Selznick's novel of the same name and is Martin Scorsese's first 3D masterpiece.
