Billy Taggit (Mark Wahlberg) is a highly respected New York policeman. However, during a manhunt for a murderer, he caused the latter's death. The final verdict was privately tampered with, and the prisoner was determined to be in self-defense. Taggit, who was called a "hero" by the citizens, was forced to leave the police station.
