In 1975, 9-year-old Lee Jin-hee (Kim Sae-ron) was sent to a Catholic women's orphanage by her father (Sol Kyung-gu). Jin-hee didn't understand why her father abandoned her. He not only bought her new clothes, but also a big cake, and promised to take her on a trip, but she never expected that the end of the trip was the orphanage. Although she was extremely opposed to life in the orphanage, as time went by, the stubborn Jin-hee had to start accepting a new life. Jin-hee met two good friends, Suk-hee (Park Do-yeon) and Yi-shin (Gao Yaxing). Suk-hee always said that she was only 11 years old in order to be adopted by someone, and the 17-year-old Yi-shin refused to be adopted in order to see the boy she secretly loved often. Jin-hee always hoped to return to her father one day. However, the trajectory of fate will not proceed as they imagined. Only by experiencing pain can one become strong and continue to grow in the journey of life... As the first Korean-French co-production, the film was screened in the Special Unit of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and the Asian Wind Unit of the 22nd Tokyo Film Festival in 2009, and won the Best Children's Film at the 3rd Asia Pacific Film Awards in Queensland, Australia in November of that year.
