The play tells the story of Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane), Queen of Scotland in the 16th century. She became Queen of Scotland six days after her birth. Since her mother was French, she spent most of her childhood and girlhood in France. The play says that Mary came to France at the age of 15. According to Baidu Encyclopedia, she was sent to France at the age of 5 in 1548 and spent 10 years of her childhood in the French court. In 1558, Mary, who was less than 16 years old, married Francis, the Dauphin of France. In 1559, Francis ascended the throne of France, but died a year later. The 18-year-old widow Mary returned to Scotland to rule in 1561. Because of her Catholic belief, Mary was dissatisfied with the Scottish nobles and Calvinists. She was deposed in 1567 and fled to England the following year. She was under house arrest by the Queen of England and her cousin Elizabeth. In 1587, Mary was guillotined by Elizabeth I for treason. In this drama, Mary is described as a rebellious girl who can ride a horse and wield a sword. The plot retains the "Four Marys" in history (four court ladies named Mary of the same age as her, from four prominent Scottish families: Beaton, Seaton, Fleming, and Linston). In the French court shrouded in powerful enemies, dark forces, and sex scandals, Mary and her friends will use their strength and wisdom to escape from the land of trouble and return to their homeland.
