Introduction

"The Boxtrolls" is a humorous fable based on Alan Snow's novel "Here Be Monsters". "Cheesebridge" is a glamorous city in the Victorian era, where residents are obsessed with wealth, class, and stinky cheese! However, under their chic cobblestone roads live a group of "terrible" monsters who crawl out of the sewers every night and steal children and cheese from residents' homes - of course, this is just one-sided statements from local residents! In fact, the "Boxtrolls" are a group of very cute and shy creatures who hide in recyclable cardboard boxes, just like turtles like to shrink in their shells. The Boxtrolls adopted a human orphan and named him "Eggs". The little boy became good friends with Winnie, a girl from the world above who loved adventure. They needed to build a bridge between the Boxtrolls and humans - especially when human politicians portrayed the Boxtrolls as a group of terrible monsters for votes and incited the public to expel them... "The Boxtrolls" is the third animated film of LAIKA after "Coraline" and "ParaNorman". It is co-directed by Anthony Stacchi, director of the animated film "Open Season", and Graham Annable, the story artist of "Coraline" and "ParaNorman". The film has a strong voice cast, including Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, etc.
