The King of Drama (original title: On Stage, Gold and Earth) is a 2016 Taiwanese period drama. The drama is starred by Ke Shuyuan, Liu Xiangci, Li Luoqing, and Wang Tong. The drama took two years to submit and half a year to prepare. The director required delicate and high standards, and filmed in 4K. The drama is adapted from Yang Liling's novel of the same name, Gold and Earth. The drama depicts the rise and fall of Taiwanese films over half a century. The story is from the 1930s to the 1950s (background of the Japanese occupation and the restoration period), and the scenes are mainly in Chiayi, most of which were selected as filming locations in Dalin Wanguo Theater and Minxiong Japanese Guest House.
