Introduction

Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) is the most ridiculous bookstore owner in London. His bookstore is dirty, the business hours are arbitrary, and the financial situation is in a mess. Bernard himself is unkempt, addicted to smoking and drinking, and has a bad temper. When he wants to close the store, he drives customers away with a megaphone and a broom. He is also unwilling to sell all the books because he is too lazy to order them. Fran (Tamsin Greig), the female owner of the gift shop next to the bookstore, often comes to help Bernard look after the store. She is Bernard's only friend. She likes to collect all kinds of strange things and her emotional life is a mess. One day Bernard's accountant ran away. Without an accountant, Bernard was crazy about the accounts and met Manny (Bill Bailey) when he collapsed. Manny is easy-going and tolerant, and is welcomed by Fran and customers. Bernard reluctantly hired Manny under Fran's coercion, and from then on, hilarious and absurd dramas were staged every day in Black's bookstore. This series has three seasons, and the starring actor Dylan Moran is also the screenwriter of the series.
