A smoking cessation order turned the narrow back alley into a new social area, where countless men and women who smoked had to hide to smoke. No matter where they were or what they did, they were all just smokers there, and all they did was smoke and joke together. Zhiming (played by Shawn Yue) from an advertising company and Chunjiao (played by Miriam Yeung) who worked at a cosmetics counter met there. Zhiming's unfortunate experience and his act of lighting a cigarette for Chunjiao made Chunjiao slightly fond of this gentle man. In the next few days and nights, the two of them sent text messages from time to time and made appointments to smoke at street corners. Feelings were transmitted through thumbs, and love grew in the smoke. In the end, an ambiguous text message led Chunjiao to break up with her boyfriend Jiahao (played by Huang Debin). Just when Chunjiao was ready to devote herself to her relationship with Zhiming, Zhiming's attitude became ambiguous. The smoke continued to linger in the back alleys on the street corners, but it could not bridge the gap between the two. With the announcement of the decision to increase tobacco taxes, smokers began to search for and hoard cigarettes. In the process of searching for cigarettes, Zhiming and Chunjiao meet again at the convenience store where they first met. That night, the two agreed to go together to look for cigarettes... The film was shot in 15 shooting days in five weeks, which was a very short shooting time. Due to the excessive use of foul language and realistic shots, "Zhiming and Chunjiao" was classified as a Category III film when it was released in Hong Kong.
