The story takes place in Roma, a middle-class neighborhood in Mexico City. It tells the story of a young maid named Cleo (played by Yalitza Aparicio) who works in the home of her employer Sofia (played by Marina de Tavira). Sofia's husband is away from home for a long time, and Cleo takes care of Sofia's four children. Two sudden accidents hit Cleo and Sofia at the same time. How should the two face the bitter and confused life? The four children seem to be the hope. This is a film based on the childhood memories of director Alfonso Cuarón, and Cuarón is actually one of the children in the film.
