Maddie (Barry Pepper)'s father Benny (Dennis Hopper) is a New York gangster who can cover the sky with one hand. Benny hopes that Maddie can inherit his father's business and develop the gang into a family culture. Unfortunately, Maddie is born weak and timid. Even the most basic test of joining the gang-killing a person cannot pass. Helplessly, he has to put his son back to society and be an ordinary person. However, Maddie soon discovered that due to his father's "reputation", he could not survive in society by relying on his own strength alone. He had no choice but to return to Benny's side. Benny gave Maddie a "safe" task-delivering a sum of black money. The ambitious Maddie decided not to disappoint his father's expectations.
