The Irish fisherman Syracuse (Colin Farrell) fished up a mysterious and beautiful woman from the sea, named Odin (Alicja Bachleda). Syracuse placed Odin, who was unwilling to see people, in his mother's old seaside house, and unexpectedly discovered that Odin had brought good luck to his fishing boat. Syracuse's daughter Anne (Alison Barry) suffers from kidney failure and lives with her alcoholic mother Maura (Dervla Kirwan) and her boyfriend. Anne has formed a strong friendship with Odin. She believes that Odin is a seal girl in Scottish mythology. After going ashore and burying her seal skin, she can live on land for seven years until her seal husband comes to take her back to the depths of the sea. Syracuse and Odin really love each other, but he is always skeptical about Odin's true identity until a mysterious black-haired man appears and wants to take Odin away... The film was nominated for the Irish Film and Television Association's Best Costume Design, Best Director, Best Film and Best Screenplay awards, and won the Best Actor (Colin Farrell), Best Supporting Actress (Derula Kirwan), Best Set Decoration and Best Sound Awards.
