The highly anticipated Iraq War film "Stop-loss" stars three popular male stars Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The title "stop-loss" was originally a common term in the field of financial foreign exchange, which roughly refers to the act of trying to limit losses to a smaller range when an investment goes wrong. After the Vietnam War, this term was used by the US government. The "stop-loss procedure" refers to the act of the military forcing soldiers who have completed their service or are eligible for retirement to extend their service time in an emergency situation it deems. According to one estimate, this controversial policy has forced about 7,000 US soldiers who were originally scheduled to return home to stay in Iraq. In the film, Sergeant Brandon King, played by Ryan Phillippe, returns to his hometown with honor and intends to rebuild his life, but the military forces him to return to Iraq immediately to continue serving under the stop-loss procedure. Brandon has no choice but to start a desperate journey to escape the so-called "justice" of a country he originally risked his life to protect.
