At the end of World War II, the small Dutch town was covered in ice and snow in winter, and the war made the whole city look abnormally gloomy. The little boy Michel (Martijn Lakemeier) and his companions ran to play near the wreckage of a crashed plane, but were caught by the stationed German army. Fortunately, Michel's mayor father had a good relationship with the Germans, and he was soon taken home by his father. Uncle Ben's arrival made Michel excited, but Uncle Ben warned him not to get involved in the war. Dirk handed him an envelope before leaving to bomb the German arsenal, but Dirk was caught by the Germans during the operation. Later, Michel opened the envelope. According to the contents of the envelope, he found the British pilot Jack who was injured in the woods. Michel began to take care of and help him escape, during which he was helped by his sister Erica (Melody Klaver), who was a nurse. After Jack recovered from his injury, Michel's several plans to help Jack escape ultimately failed. During this period, Michelle's father was eventually killed by the German army because of the murder of German soldiers. Michelle had no choice but to ask Uncle Ben for help, and Uncle Ben was willing to help, but asked Michelle not to interfere in the matter. Michelle watched Uncle Ben take Jack and his sister farther and farther away. He recalled the whole incident of this winter and found that Uncle Ben was a German spy hiding in his home... This film is a classic film about war, children and adventure, adapted from the novel of the same name by a Dutch writer. This film was selected as the best film at the Rembrandt Annual Awards Ceremony held in Amsterdam in March 2009.
