Jimmy (Bruce Willis), a veteran detective of the New York Police Department, believes that silence is golden and handles cases meticulously. He has a black partner, Paul (Tracy Morgan), who has just been promoted to detective and thinks that Obama has become the president of the United States, so he has become more confident. Not only does he boss around the petty thieves, but he also doesn't respect the veteran detectives that much. Because of the theft of a precious baseball card in 1952, Jimmy and Paul teamed up to attack. However, this trouble doesn't seem to be so easy to settle. During the investigation, a series of cases surfaced, including the kidnapping of a Mexican beauty, the drug trafficking case of gangsters, and so on. This pair of partners actually didn't go through any big storms, so they were facing a big enemy this time. Moreover, they both showed symptoms of a fire in the backyard: Jimmy inexplicably lost a large sum of money for his daughter's wedding, and although Paul looked like a goose, his wife suspected him of cheating. This kind of thing made the two very upset. They had to handle the case while earnestly explaining their innocence to their families. This dilemma of being busy on both ends was driving them crazy...
